Martinez sinks birdie to beat Georgia

TUNICA, Miss. -- Auburn defeated Georgia in the second hole of a playoff Sunday to win its fifth Southeastern Conference women's golf championship.
The Bulldogs overtook Auburn during the final two holes, before Auburn pulled even at the end of regulation to extend the championship into what is believed to be the first team playoff in tournament history.
Both teams finished three regulation rounds tied at 904, one stroke better than third-place Arkansas, at the par-72, 6,281-yard course at Tunica National Golf and Tennis Club.
LSU and Tennessee each finished at 906.
Auburn and Georgia were tied after the first playoff hole, but Maria Martinez sank a 6-foot birdie putt on hole No. 2 to lift Auburn to its second team title in three years. The Tigers also won it in 2003.
Stacy Lewis of Arkansas tied the SEC tournament all-time low round with a 67 Sunday, and claimed top individual honors with a two-under-par 214 for the three-round event.
The tournament was held in Tunica for the first time, and was played in Mississippi for the third time.
